Cultural Delegation to Haiti: Kanaval 2008

January 30 to February 9, 2007

Are you eager to learn about the complex struggle of the Haitian people, both historically and today? Would you like to hear first-hand from artists, journalists, young activists, elected officials, environmentalists,... and Carnival revelers!

On our delegation, after a day of exploration you are invited to relax at a quiet, simple hotel nestled in a peaceful cove only five minutes from Jacmel, Haiti's folk art center and the capital of the nation's beloved annual Carnival.

We will hear about and see the reality of life in Haiti, developments in advocacy, and we will consider ways in which our neighbor in need can be helped in a tangible way.

If you would like to receive an application, or if you want to know more about this trip, please e-mail me at elise@konpay.org.

The price for all in-country costs and a double occupancy hotel room for these 10 days is $1,250.00.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own round trip tickets to Port-au-Prince. The best priced tickets can be found on www.aa.com, and early ticket purchase is highly recommended. RT tickets from Boston are currently priced at $305, and RT tickets from NYC are currently $290!

KONPAY works with individuals and groups committed to a respectful and educational experience in Haiti. This delegation is guided by experienced American activists and Haitians.

I look forward to hearing from you! Elise
