The Youth for the Development of Cyvadier, known by its Haitian Creole acronym JDS, is at the center of Haiti KONPAY's regional environmental work. It is KONPAY's primary tree nursery in the southeast department, and the JDS property also includes a community compost and is frequently used for training seminars for young people and other members of the community.

Plant a Tree in Haiti for your Mom and Mother Earth

SPECIAL Mother’s Day Event

Don’t just give your mother a gift like chocolates or flowers that only last a week – plant a citrus tree in her honor and honor Mother Earth at the same time! Haiti is the most deforested country in our hemisphere and each tree can make a difference. Plant a tree for a mother in your life for $20 and we will send a beautiful mother’s day card, describing your gift, to arrive in time for May 11th. For $35 you can give the gift of a citrus tree to one of the mothers of Cyvadier, Haiti as well.

Earth Day Celebration

When the leadership committe of the Youth for the Development of Cyvadier (JDS) began discussing Earth Day last week, none of the young people had ever heard of the celebration before. We struggled to find the right translation and settled on "Selebrasyon de Tè", or Celebration of the Earth to translate literally.  The group immediately wanted to plan an event to coincide with the international day to celebrate our planet.

Tripling the Goal

Working with the Youth of Cyvadier/Jenn pou Devlopman Syvadye

KONPAY believes it is important that we make investments in our own community, and that is why we were thrilled to begin a partnership with the young people and children in the village of Cyvadier where we have our headquarters. About fifteen minutes down the coast from the city ofJacmel, Cyvadier is a community of farmers and fishers. It is a gorgeous area, green and lush with coconut trees with a rugged, rocky coastline.
